    TheOpportunity
    The Department's Public AffairsDivision listens to, informs, communicates and collaborates withour customers, staff and stakeholders to improve outcomes for ourcommunities, economy and state.

    The Media Directorate is responsible for managing all mediaenquiries and social media channels, finding and promoting positivemedia opportunities, identifying current and emerging issues, andproviding media monitoring services.

    As the Manager, Media, you'll work closely with varyingstakeholders to lead the development of a pipeline of positivemedia opportunities that promote the Department's projects,initiatives, programs and policies. Your role will involve leadingmedia planning efforts, preparing media materials for complexmatters, and managing crisis communication strategies.Additionally, you'll provide expert advice to senior leadership,conduct media training for spokespeople, and ensure the departmentmaintains strong relationships with media outlets andstakeholders.

Your ability to build strongrelationships, leverage networks and navigate complex challengeswill be essential in driving success. You thrive and havedemonstrated experience working collaboratively in fast-paced mediaenvironments as well as coaching and motivating your team toachieve excellence.

    Your ability to anticipate and respond to media issues effectively,coupled with your strategic thinking and negotiation skills, willbe essential in driving politically sound media outcomes that meetour strategic goals.

    Qualifications andExperience
    Relevant tertiary orindustry qualifications and/or relevant high-level experience inmedia, journalism, communications or similar.

    SpecialConditions
    Prior to employment with the Department the successful candidatewill be required to provide:

    • A National PoliceCheck (NPC) which must be renewed every threeyears.
    • A Department for HumanServices (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which isrequired to be renewed every five years beforeexpiry.

    Some out of hours and weekend work may be required andthe role will participate in a rotating on-call roster for responseto out-of-hours media enquiries.

    Tenure ofVacancy
    Temporary appointment up to 2years with an option of extension or conversion to beconsidered.
