    We are looking for a Senior Project Geologist to join our Exploration and Resource Characterisation team to advance orebody knowledge and implement material characterisation practices for all Fortescue's future iron ore development projects.

    This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to become a key player within Exploration team and devise characterisation program to support geometallurgical studies.

    Working a Mon-Fri roster in Perth office you will be managing and ensuring all characterisation studies and activities are conducted to a highest standard.

    Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement ore characterisation programs and strategy in line with the business objectives

    Support the value chain from resource to product by determining and communicating the material mineralogy and its effect on mining and processing to relevant stakeholders.

    Coordination, planning and supervision of characterisation studies at external laboratories
    Continuous improvement of current processes of geometallurgical diamond drill hole planning and characterisation programs
    Ensuring effective handover and utilisation of core scanning data provided to stakeholders
    Integrate geoscientific data collected on diamond drill cores and investigate material characteristics to develop geometallurgical domains.
    Provide support to stakeholders based on operational experience and relevant orebody knowledge through projects and collaboration.
    Ensure the timely completion of concise and clearly-communicated geological and department reporting
    Work with and mentor both geologists and metallurgists to ensure activities are completed to the highest technical standards.
    Qualifications and ExperienceTertiary qualification in geology or equivalent
    Good safety culture and risk perception.
    Demonstrated experience in iron ore geology, minerology and different mineralisation styles

    Skilled in GIS software, preferably Arc GIS, Leapfrog and with exposure to exploration geostatistical packages (io GAS or other) and acquire database.

    Concise and efficient at report writing and other geological documentation
    Experience with RC and diamond drilling program
    Experience and understanding of digital core scanning technologies and spectral interpretation (Hylogger, Corescan, Minalyze)
    Demonstrated experience and knowledge of advanced mineralogical mapping technologies (e.g.
    TIMA, MLA, QEMScan)
    Current WA C-Class driving license.
