    About the role

    WorkSafe Victoria is expanding its Freedom of Information function, and looking for multiple Freedom of Information Officers to join the team in these newly created positions.

    Freedom of Information Officers process Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982, WorkSafe's FOI Procedures Manual, and administrative law principles.

    Key Accountabilities

    The position of FOI Officer will assist employees, senior management, Authorised Agents and members of the public in relation to FOI processes and legislative requirements. More specifically an FOI Officer will:

    • Process FOI applications in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and WorkSafe's FOI procedures and ensure statutory timeframes for responding to FOI requests are met.
    • Assist in responding where required to requests for information from the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner in relation to complaints and reviews of WorkSafe FOI decisions.
    • Liaise effectively with applicants, injured workers and/or their representatives to determine appropriate access to information pathways.
    • Undertake projects and general tasks at the request of the Manager, FOI and Privacy and Director, Corporate Legal, as required.

    About you

    You are a team player who has an eye for detail. More specifically you have:

    • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders from government, the private sector and members of the public.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and work environment.
    • Sound database management and record-keeping skills.
    • An understanding of the application of statutory rules, preferably in the area of FOI.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and autonomously.
    • Previous FOI experience is desirable, but not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.
