    Health, Safety & Environment (Construction)

    Established in 2009, Catalpa has become one of the most well-known and respected civil, concrete, ground works companies in the construction and mining industry in Australia.

    Position Overview:
    As the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout Catalpa's projects, working closely with all levels of management and frontline employees to promote awareness and adherence to HSE policies and procedures.

    This is a full time role based in Perth with occasional site travel.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and National regulations as well as construction industry standards.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate safety and environmental risks.
    • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence of accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.
    • Provide HSE training and education to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to increase awareness and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into all aspects of operations, including project planning, design, procurement, and execution.
    • Monitor and analyise HSE performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk, and develop strategies to address them.
    • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community stakeholders on HSE- related matters.

    About You:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Obtain an advanced degree or professional certifications.
    • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in construction or mining, with a strong understanding of relevant HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive HSE excellence.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyise, and interpret HSE data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and attend site visits when required.
