    This is a pool recruitment process (Ref This pool will run for a period of twelve (12) months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts, secondments, acting/relieving and permanent opportunities.

    This position is offered as a six (6) month contract/secondment opportunity with the possibility of extension/permanency.

    POSITION OBJECTIVE

    This position manages the internal and external budget management framework, incorporating the Agency's annual budget submission and mandatory budget reporting processes to Government. Provides professional advice and assistance in the development of financial strategies to obtain the financial resources required to meet the Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force) strategic objectives which includes performing cost benefit analysis, financial modelling and other costing exercises on a regular basis.

    SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

    It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.

    Note: Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance is dependant on local level business needs.

    APPLICATION PROCESS

    Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than two (2) pages:

    • Conceptual skills - Visualising concepts, analysing and understanding ideas, system, data and interrelationships. Formulating possible solution and options to address business problems and issues, making recommendations.
    • Communication and interpersonal skills - Preparing reports including briefing notes, option papers and business case development. Liaising with all levels of personnel. Developing and maintaining effective, collaborative relationships. Providing advice and guidance on issues, processes and business concept development. Facilitating meetings/workshops to develop ideas and solutions.

    Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

    The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant's ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

    Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

    OTHER CONDITIONS

    In addition to the above mentioned vacancy, a POOL is being created to fill future vacancies that may arise within the metropolitan area. This POOL will remain active for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial appointment. Applicants who are assessed as 'suitable' at the completion of this process, will be placed in the POOL and may be considered for future permanent and temporary vacancies as they become available.

    Once an applicant from the POOL accepts a permanent position via this selection process, that applicant will be removed from the POOL. Applicants who accept a temporary vacancy will remain in the POOL and will continue to be considered for permanent opportunities as they arise.

    Where an applicant in the POOL declines an opportunity (either permanent or temporary), that applicant may forfeit their right to be considered before other suitable applicants who were identified to be less competitive.

    Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
