KCS Industrial Services Pty Ltd – Darwin, NT
Full-Time | 38 Hours Per Week
KCS Industrial Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Fitter/Welder to join our Darwin-based industrial services team on a full-time basis. This position is responsible for carrying out mechanical fitting, fabrication and welding works to support the installation, repair and maintenance of plant and equipment across our operations.
The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication techniques and safe work practices within industrial environments.
Position Overview
As a Fitter/Welder, you will perform a combination of precision fitting and welding duties, including the fabrication, assembly and repair of structural and mechanical components. The position involves workshop-based and on-site work, supporting projects across industrial, construction and plant maintenance settings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate sound technical knowledge, attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety and quality.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, dismantle, align and reassemble mechanical plant and equipment
- Perform fabrication and welding tasks using MIG, TIG and Stick welding processes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical instructions
- Fabricate structural steel components, brackets, frames and mechanical assemblies
- Conduct inspections of plant and machinery to identify wear, faults or structural defects
- Replace, repair or modify components as required to restore operational efficiency
- Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing of equipment
- Operate hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments to maintain accurate tolerances
- Assist with breakdown response and fault diagnosis
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety procedures, Australian Standards and company quality systems
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop and site work area
Essential Requirements
- Trade qualification in Engineering – Mechanical or Fabrication (Certificate III) or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant post-trade experience
- Demonstrated welding competency across multiple welding methods
- Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and fabrication plans
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding capability
- Experience in industrial, workshop or site-based environments
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Employment Conditions
- Full-time permanent position (38 hours per week)
