    Description

    Senior Data Engineer Contract Role

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our organisation as we undergo a business transformation, focusing on improving operational efficiency and customer experience with data and analytics at its core.

    The role is initially contracted until the end of 2022 but may be extended due to the program's multi-year nature. We offer a generous rate for this position.

    We are seeking a candidate based in the Western suburbs, CBD, or Geelong region to work in a hybrid model, splitting their time between home and office (2-3 days per week).

    About the Role

    As part of our innovation division, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cloud-hosted solutions, advising on pattern design, and contributing to infrastructure automation, development, and operational capabilities.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Design and develop cloud-hosted solutions using strong software engineering abilities.
    • Work closely with the team to build infrastructure, automate processes, and create/improve development and operational capabilities such as disaster recovery, infrastructure monitoring, continuous deployment, high system availability, etc.

    Requirements

    To succeed in this role, you should have:

    • Significant experience in Data Engineering and software engineering from a cloud-based data-intensive environment.
    • Experience working in DevOps and Agile methodologies.
    • A strong understanding of database design, conceptualization to optimization.
    • Expertise in ETL development (AWS Glue), data structures, storage, specifications, and architectures.
    • Familiarity with AWS services including AWS Glue, Secret Manager, S3, Snowflake, GIT, Jenkins, Python, Apache Airflow.
    • Ability to lead meetings, clearly communicate technical approach, status, assess, and mitigate risk.
    • Able to articulate complex technical topics to relevant stakeholders.
