    The Safety Partner is a trusted expert and business partner who provides leadership, coaching, advice, care and support to ensure the safe operations of the business, promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of our teams. The Safety Partner is responsible for the professional investigation of safety incidents, assists with ensuring the business meets its regulatory obligations, and provides subject matter expertise to operational leaders.

    You will be a critical bridge between our safety management systems and the operational reality of business, ensuring that our risk management frameworks, policies, procedures and priorities are contextualised and implemented successfully 'on the ground'.

    With a passion for capability uplift within the business by coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to Leaders and Team Members, you will act as an advocate and ambassador for safety initiatives and priorities across the Group, and role model active safety leadership and engagement.

    What you'll do:

    At Woolworths, we care deeply in everything we do, we care in our conversations and the way we treat each other. The person will hold a warm empathetic coaching style to continuously challenge the status quo with our operational leaders and our store teams. You will play an active role in shaping and championing our safety management systems and processes, advocate for and participate in deployment and enhancement activities, while supporting and guiding our end users.

    You will become the 'link' between the what and how for our teams, by deeply understanding key hazard and risk control mitigations and ensuring these are successfully implemented to achieve the desired business outcomes and measures
    Engage with Health & Safety Regulators on site to work through risk areas, including taking accountability to log and close any notices.

    • Ensure the right information, reporting and insights from regulatory intervention is collected, recorded and shared so that we may apply learnings and continuously improve beyond the local level
    • On-call first safety responder responsibilities three times a year for critical safety incidents across the national network covering weekend and overnight. (approx 3 weeks per year)
    • Ensure stores are up to date with all Safety Health and Wellbeing compliance and regulatory related matters while partnering with local leadership teams to encourage the engagement and education of Team Members
    • Investigate severity 1 and 2 incidents in line with the National Framework
    • Work closely with Injury Care and Team Experience Partners for the prevention and investigation of physical and psychosocial injury/illness

    What you'll bring:

    We are looking for a safety professional to join our team who brings a strong presence of leadership aligned with lived in experience of a similar role. You will be driven to coach, mentor and demonstrate health, safety and wellbeing excellence and hit the ground running with an awareness of your impacts across the broader team.

    • Tertiary qualifications in safety, health and wellbeing or other related fields or equivalent experience - Minimum 5 years inside of the Safety Health and Wellbeing space
    • Experience and proven track record in successfully delivering safety, health and wellbeing initiatives and programs at a corporate and operational level
    • Influencing and coaching skills to elevate commitment to safety, health and wellbeing improvements
    • Understanding of work, health and safety performance measures and ability to apply analytical skills to gain meaningful insights
    • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator experience advantageous
    • Lived in experience in a similar seat with an internal strategic toolkit to navigate the challenges and evolving frameworks
