    The Financial Operations, Alarms and Systems Support branch manages all activities relating to QFES accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate cards, banking, debt recovery, alarm monitoring financial activities, disaster recovery relief arrangements and financial systems help desk support to ensure best practice business and financial operations, user compliance and financial training and support is delivered on behalf of the department.

    Reporting to the Senior System Finance Officer, you will be a key member of the team responsible for supporting day-to-day activities required to deliver best practice financial management reporting, policy, and training, to ensure QFES' compliance with relevant policies and standards. You will contribute to improved business processes, training delivery, and the preparation of various financial compliance reports, to meet service delivery and departmental objectives.

    As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.

    Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

    Your key accountabilities

    Responsibilities

    Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in providing frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
    • Manage and administer financial systems compliance reporting, including regular expense management system reporting and finance system security reviews to identify exceptions and reduce potential fraud.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of financial operations policies, procedures and associated documentation to meets compliance with best practice guidelines and QFES corporate governance processes.
    • Contribute to the review, planning, development, and delivery of finance system and financial management training to ensure a high standard of financial literacy and capability of QFES staff.
    • Liaise and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of finance services and governance, and timely resolution of issues is achieved.
    • Attend and contribute to meetings, workshops, and conferences where financial compliance reporting, policy, audit, and training issues may be addressed and ensure positive outcomes are achieved to meet business objectives.
    • Work effectively in a productive working environment, fostering teamwork and assisting in the ongoing development of staff through leadership, encouraging staff commitment and innovation, including actively participating in performance and development programs.
    • Participate in projects on a range of initiatives, and/or provide recommendations for continuous improvement to ensure outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes and meet business needs.
