    About the role

    Reporting to the Group Finance Manager - Financial Control, the Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in the timely and reliable delivery of monthly, half yearly and year end reports for the board and external stakeholders. This will include corporate accounting and reporting, including statutory and regulatory reporting, treasury accounting, month end processing and analysis.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Statutory accounting - assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for lodgement with ASIC including collection of information, preparation of left hand notes, reconciliations and other work papers
    • Accounting for corporate and consolidated group transactions
    • Lease accounting
    • Treasury accounting including hedge accounting and hedge effectiveness testing
    • Preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations for corporate function
    • Assisting with the maintenance of the various corporate models including, impairment model, cash flow model and deed of cross guarantee group balance sheet.
    • Preparation of Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reporting
    • Assisting with the monitoring and review of the preparation of monthly general ledger reconciliations across the Pacific National business

    About you

    To succeed in this role, initiative, effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with systems and reporting tools. Other required skills, experience and attributes include:

    • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance
    • Ideally, Chartered Big 4 background (preferred but not essential)
    • CA/CPA qualification
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Experience with PeopleSoft, TM1, and Visual Risk (preferred but not essential)
