    Assistant Finance Manager – Accounting & Tax

    Mitsui Iron Ore Development Pty Ltd (MIOD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd which is one of the worlds most diversified trading, investment and services enterprises in Japan and has a global network in 63 countries with 129 offices in addition to a number of overseas affiliates for its diversified business.

    MIOD invests in iron ore mines in the Pilbara (operated by Rio Tinto). We have long-term investments in iron ore projects in the Pilbara, spanning over 50 years.

    The Role
    We're seeking a highly skilled Assistant Finance Manager to manage the financial integrity of our critical joint ventures. You'll directly oversee financial reporting, capital reporting, and income tax functions for MIOD's interest in the Robe River Iron Associates Joint Venture (RRIA JV).

    As a key advisor to MIOD's Finance and Commercial teams, your insights will directly shape decision-making. This is your chance to make a tangible impact while honing your technical accounting expertise in a challenging environment.

    Key Responsibilities will include:

    • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly/quarterly reports, analyse joint venture performance, and provide technical accounting guidance.
    • Capital Management: Analyse capital expenditure and fixed asset schedules.
    • Income Tax: Prepare income tax returns, manage reporting, and address tax-related inquiries.
    • Budgeting & Forecasting: Review budgets, assist with calculations, and contribute to forecasting.
    • Leadership: Provide leadership and support development of a high-performing accounting team.

    The Person

    You're a meticulous and results-driven accountant with a passion for applying your technical expertise. Your experience in audit or financial accounting provides a strong foundation for success in this role. You're a natural collaborator with excellent communication skills, ready to build relationships with colleagues and external partners. Your ability to mentor and develop staff further highlights your leadership potential.

    Required Qualifications & Experience:

    • Commerce/Business degree (Accounting Major).
    • CA/CPA membership.
    • 5+ years' audit or financial accounting experience.
    • Reasonable understanding of Australian Corporate Tax Legislation.
    • Mining industry experience.
