    The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

    CommSec is Australia's largest online retail stockbroker. It is one of the most highly-visible and visited online assets in Australian financial services. CommSec's systems utilise a variety of technologies and support a broad range of investors. Software engineers within CommSec are offered regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia, as well as having opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank.

    As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will bring your expertise in quality assurance, test automation, risk management, solving business problems, optimising our systems, and contribute to strategic test automation initiatives to evolve testing automation practices and tools. You will be creating and maintaining front-end and back-end automation frameworks to ensure quality and reliability of our systems. You will be embedded in a cross functional team that is self-managing with end-to-end responsibility for designing, delivering, and optimising a broad range of customer-focused outcomes.

    We're interested in hearing from people who:

    • Will be the squad's "Quality Advocate," encouraging a critical thinking mindset and drive prevention of defects over detection of defects
    • Drives learning culture through activities such as guild presentations and blogs
    • Contributes to the design and build of the services and tools that enable DevOps and testing
    • Ideate and build innovative tools to solve automation challenges
    • Builds robust test doubles to minimise dependencies
    • Influences product design, implementation and enhancement to support testability and quality
    • Automates basic real time anomaly detection through services such as log monitoring
    • Creates well-engineered, scalable and reliable test
    • Works closely with everyone on project squads to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions

    Tech Skills:

    We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

    • Expertise with setting up and applying test automation for large-scale applications
    • Web application testing using Selenium or Playwright
    • API testing automation with frameworks such as RestSharp or RestAssured
    • Solid experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
    • Experience in contract testing frameworks such as PACT
    • Demonstrable working experience in code repository & version control tools such as Git
