    The Role

    Join a dynamic team of health professionals providing high quality health care to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

    The APS 3 (APS 2-4 Broadband) Health Clerk will work within the modern Oakey Army Aviation Centre Health Facility (Swartz Barracks; Located approximately 30km of Toowoomba City in Queensland).

    This role offers a great opportunity to work within a professional team, providing front desk customer service by phone, email and face-to-face, to support the delivery of health care to ADF members.

    As the first point of contact in the Health Centre, the Health Clerk will handle enquiries, book medical appointments, maintain e-health records and follow up on the progress of personnel care plans.

    You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills to support ethical medical administration, and liaison with internal and external health care providers.

    Previous experience in an allied health or medical field domain is highly valued.

    About our Team

    Oakey Army Aviation Health Centre is located in the Darling Downs region of QLD, approximately180 km west of Brisbane and 30 km north-west of Toowoomba. Oakey is a rural town with a population of 4,700. Toowoomba has a population of 150,000.

    Oakey Health Centre provides a Primary Health Care Service to posted personnel, an Airfield Emergency Response (AER) capability, a 24-hour on-call crash response and aviation specific medical care.

    The workforce is a mix of ADF, APS and contracted health staff, with 35% provided by contracted health professionals.

    Our Ideal Candidate

    Working within a multi-disciplinary Primary Health Care Team, the APS3 Health Clerk is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve straightforward clinical administration work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to understand and comply with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policies requirements.

    The APS3 Health Clerk will work established priorities and procedures, while exercising some autonomy about how their work is performed. They may prioritise and manage their workflow and produce work that is subject to routine monitoring by more senior Defence employees. They may undertake specialist, procedural, clerical, administrative support or operational tasks including some basic research and analysis activities to support their work unit. The work may have an element of complexity.

    An APS3 Health Clerk may be required to provide some limited supervision and support to Defence employees at lower classifications, as well as providing on-the-job training to team members. The APS3 Health Clerk may be required to liaise and apply standard procedures to meet stakeholder requirements and achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
