    The Role

    Are you looking for an employment opportunity in a challenging and highly complex enterprise? Space Systems Branch has a number of exciting opportunities for Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Practitioners to join the team and work in support of Australian Defence Force (ADF) Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) capabilities. Satellite Communications SPO sustains leading edge communications technology in support of ADF operations, both here and overseas. These capabilities range from strategic and tactical satellite communication systems, to global positioning systems and communications networks.

    The positions require stakeholder (including industry) engagement and therefore you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We are seeking candidates with a diverse range of experience and backgrounds including people who have gained their experience outside Defence and Government.

    About our Team
    Space Systems Branch has been established to acquire and sustains SATCOM and GPS systems, and be a trusted advisor of SATCOM systems for the Australian Defence Organisation. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel. The team works from Brindabella Park offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies.

    Our Ideal Candidate
    The ideal candidate will have experience in similar roles, with knowledge of logistics, finance, asset and contract management, be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team. They must have a good understanding of ICT applications and ability to interpret different systems for information. The successful candidate will work within a team to provide ILS planning and management, asset management, contract management, coordination, governance and assurance for complex ADF capability. As part of this role you will be responsible for the following activities: (provide bullet points of key activities) Key attributes:

    • Knowledge of methodology, systems and procedures within the logistics management functions including experience with managing ITAR, codification and Disposal of assets.
    • A well-developed understanding of Defence's logistics disciplines;
    • Demonstrated experience in working within a team in a complex environment; managing several capabilities.
    • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills with ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders; and
    • Excellent organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve results and business objectives.
