    ATSILS is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that deliversinnovative, professional criminal, civil and family law services to Aboriginaland Torres Strait Islander clients throughout Queensland.

    We are 50 years old, and have 300 staff including a specialist Through Careservice to complement our legal services. We are fully government funded, andthis Admin role is tied to ongoing funding, currently set to 30 June 2025.

    In additionto working in a dynamic office environment, opportunity also exists to proceedfurther in the various areas of Administration and Court Support Officer work.     Selection Criteria

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (6)

    1. Values : alignment to the values and vision of ATSILS and an appreciation of and sensitivity to the challenges our clients have faced, and continue to face, in their fight for and their right to justice and equity.

    2. Qualifications : Certificate III in Business/Customer Service: orequivalent is essential. Experience inproviding services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients andfamilies is highly regarded.

    3. Client service and data co-ordination: havethe capacity to provide a pleasant, culturally competent service at receptionusing a multi-line phone system and being thorough in completing multiple tasks . Also have a positive and helpful approach to compliance, safety and security. Ability to show initiative and to prioritise competing responsibilities is well regarded. Confidencewith accurate message taking, tracking, and sending with reliable records is acore requirement of the role.

    4. Document production: capacity to complete online d ocuments for lodgement, or the ability to rapidly gain the knowledge of completing online applications, type correspondence and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Database – experience with databasemanagement systems including entering client data, updating and collation ofreports on a regular basis is required.

    5. Operational support: in providing practical operational support, including dealing with clients, visitors, service providers, incoming and outgoing calls, mail, ordering and monitoring supplies and phone use, arranging repairs and cleaning services.

    6. S ecurity and safety :

    a willingness toundergo a Criminal Record Check toachieve a NationalPolice Certificate (Australia-wide Disclosable Criminal History). Candidatesmay be required to disclose misconduct (criminal convictions, prosecutioninvestigations etc.,) that prevent an ATSILS Security Clearance in relation toany conviction for Fraud or other dishonesty related criminal offences. To this end, a preferred candidate must beprepared to consent to a Criminal History Check being conducted (if requested).A criminal history does not automatically preclude selection for interview. Apreliminary check can be discussed with the Human Resources Manager after acandidate has been shortlisted for interview.

    DESIRABLE CRITERIA (3)

    1. Current First Aid Certificate,Workplace Health and Safety Representative training or Emergency Servicesqualifications;

    2. Further q ualifications or current enrolment in applicable tertiary courses;

    3. Experience in an Aboriginal and/or Torres StraitIslander service, Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander identification.
