    • Exciting opportunity to work at the Matilda Centre as a Research Officer in the area of Substance Use in a flexible work environment
    • Base Salary $95,860 - $103, % superannuation

    About the opportunity

    The Matilda Centre is seeking a Research Officer to join their research team. This role will work on an existing study that commenced in 2020, aimed at evaluating a model of care that includes interventions across the spectrum of prevention, early intervention and treatment of problematic substance use among people working in emergency, corrective, family and community services.

    The project exists and operates primarily in an online web portal, where visitors may undertake self-assessments, receive personalised feedback on their substance use, and recommendations regarding potential support options based on their level of risk.

    As the Research Officer, you will collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data collected online and via participant and key-stakeholder interviews, prepare and present study findings in scientific reports, publications, and presentations.

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    • Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data collected online and via participant and key-stakeholder interviews
    • assist with the preparation of written reports, papers and presentations
    • develop and maintain strong engagement and relationships with relevant stakeholders, including liaison government agencies such as NSW Ambulance and NSW Department of Communities and Justice
    • advocate and work closely with relevant government agencies to promote the program
    • assist with planning for the upscaling of the intervention across further agencies
    • conduct recurring analysis of the performance of the web portal with consistent and continuous improvements
    • ensure appropriate ethics or other relevant permission applications are lodged in collaboration with other project stakeholders

    About you

    • Honours degree in Public Health, Psychology, Behavioural or Social Sciences, or related field, with relevant experience in a research environment
    • experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, implementing study design, ethics submissions and grant applications.
    • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to day operational matters.
    • ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
    • strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
    • capacity to undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis of research data
    • strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to maintain professional relationships and network-building
    • experience in literature searching, critical appraisal, synthesising evidence and generating conclusions
    • experience in assisting with report writing, preparing presentations and preparing for consultations using research results
    • ability to travel domestically for events or conferences (funded by the University).
