    Job Summary

    This is a permanent full-time position responsible for maintaining the racecourse grounds at Mornington Racecourse to ensure they are presented in the best possible condition.

    ">

    The ideal candidate will have a proven background in a hands-on role within the grounds maintenance, racecourse, turf management, or related industries, and bring their experience and passion for gardening to undertake various duties that enhance the natural beauty of the grounds.

    Responsibilities:

      ">
    • Undertake general turf maintenance work including mowing, track repairs, rail moves, operation of large machinery, pre and post-race day tasks, and other horticultural and facility maintenance tasks.
    • ">
    • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, front end loader, forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers, and chemical spraying operations.

    • Assist with garden maintenance tasks: hedging, weeding, pruning, and mulching.

    Requirements:

      ">
    • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management.
    • ">
    • Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or a related field is an advantage.
    • ">
    • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.
    • ">
    • Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader, and forklifts (as applicable).
    • ">
    • Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals.
    • ">
    • Demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • ">
    • Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • ">
    • Physical fitness, reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
