    About the role:

    We're seeking a Senior Developer – AWS, to provide technical oversight, strategic direction, and execution of solution delivery and software development across the AWS stack for Core Tolling, Billing and Collections.

    This role will encompass analysing the current state of the platform and contributing insights and plans on implementing best practice technology and performance improvements.

    As our Senior Developer – AWS, you'll contribute to creating and fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement and aim to be a solution and software engineering thought and practice leader.

    Day-to-day, you will:

    • Design and develop new features and enhancements on the AWS platform along with performing root cause analysis and defect remediation.
    • Define, maintain, and operationalise engineering code management within the AWS domain.
    • Source code branching and merging strategies for the AWS platform.
    • Provide input and guidance during a project / initiative solution design phase that is consistent with the overall technical direction of the platform.
    • Contribute to the platform technology roadmap, technical architecture development, lifecycle management and the progression of a range of enhancements.
    • Maintain awareness of strategic drivers across Transurban such as customer journeys and plans for product variations or new assets.
    • Provide a forward-looking perspective on adapting to new technologies.
    • Actively participate and demonstrate leadership within related industry forums.

    This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

    • AWS: CloudFormation; S3; EC2; ECS, API Gateway; Lambda; DynamoDB; SQS; SNS; RDS
    • Programming Languages: Java; ; Typescript
    • Infrastructure as Code: Cloud Formation, AWS CDK, Terraform, Docker
    • Build and Deploy: GitHub; GitHub Actions; Jenkins, Artifactory
    • Proven experience in designing and building AWS applications and services utilising AWS tooling.
    • Expert knowledge in Agile, CI / CD and DevOps and DevSecOps principles and methodologies.
    • Strong understanding of Unix (RHEL) and Windows Server operating systems.
    • Previous experience writing code for large-scale production environments.
    • Understanding of cost observability and management in an AWS environment with a strong focus on reduction and optimisation.
    • Demonstrated ability of defining and driving complex initiatives/projects, maintaining a balance between time to market, usability, and incurring appropriate technical debt.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external personnel at all levels.
    • Ability to engage with senior architects and contribute to technical plans and designs.
    • Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline is highly valued.
