    Description

    Job Opportunity

We are seeking a driven and entrepreneurial lawyer to join our team at Anika Legal, a free non-profit legal service for renters. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in building our unique service model and contribute to developing efficient and scalable legal services.

    About the Role

    • You will report to the Principal Lawyer and run our clinical legal education programs, supervising and mentoring law students interns to provide legal assistance.
    • Improving the design of our legal services, legal operations, and student programs by using a data-driven, human-centred approach.
    • Supporting the Principal Lawyer to expand our service offering and education provider partnerships, create and implement organisational strategy, and champion Anika's culture.
    • Adapting to the needs of a dynamic organisation, taking on important, unforeseeable jobs that pop up often in a startup.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise and mentor law students interns to provide legal assistance.
    • Develop and improve the design of our legal services, legal operations, and student programs.
    • Support the Principal Lawyer to expand our service offering and education provider partnerships.
    • Contribute to developing efficient, scalable legal services by leveraging technology, law students, and social enterprise.

    Requirements

    • 2+ years of experience working as a lawyer.
    • Eager for challenge and responsibility in supporting the development and management of a rapidly growing legal practice.
    • Entrepreneurial and innovative, able to take off the 'lawyer hat' to challenge the way legal services are traditionally provided.
    • Interest in mentoring law students to foster a more socially conscious next generation of lawyers.
    • Curious and client-focused, understanding that the law isn't designed with clients in mind.
    • Startup-ready, pragmatic, determined, and able to get things done.
    • Experience in the legal assistance sector, especially tenancy and consumer debt.

    How to Apply

To apply for this role, please fill out the application form and upload your CV and cover letter. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences who share our vision of a world where everyone can access justice.
