    Description

    St Joseph's Primary School East Maitland is seeking a temporary part-time (8.75 hours per week) Cleaner to join the team for the remainder of the year. The successful candidate will also work 2.5 hours per week as Grounds Person.

    St Joseph's Primary School, East Maitland, is a systemic Catholic school situated in the Hunter Valley NSW, catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Committed to meeting the learning needs of all students, the school blends traditional and contemporary learning styles and has a range of first class facilities that serve a wide and diverse cross section of communities, both rural and urban, in the Morpeth and East Maitland Parishes.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Cleaner is responsible performing a range of cleaning tasks to ensure a clean, hygienic and safe environment for staff and students. Cleaners generally work split shifts, before and after official school hours. They directly report to the Principal, however, work relatively independently and are allocated specific areas to clean. The allocation of these areas can vary, but commonly Cleaners will have an allocation of classrooms and indoor areas, as well as some outdoor areas.

    EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

    • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school
    • Experience performing various cleaning tasks unsupervised in a school environment or similar;
    • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage and disposal methods;
    • Demonstrated understanding of hygiene issues in a school environment;
    • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly clean school areas and classrooms;
    • Demonstrated understanding of current Work Health and Safety requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Current paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
