This is another one of those posts that speaks volumes @Debasish Majumder...The internet is a very powerful tool of influence...but if you behave like a 'tool'...you are less likely to attract any meaningful engagement...That said...some people like the piranha pool...That's cool if you don't mind being eaten alive;-)

#5 @Zacharias 🐝 Voulgaris I agree. Social Media is sometimes like a megaphone of someone's character. This is not always true, because it can also be a mask to hide behind. Either way, Social Media is still just a tool. US, I am the one choosing to use it. It has no use, power, or influence without followers. One day, I am sure it will be replace with a new generation of tech. But, it will be in the choice of the user of how it's used.

I don't think SM make people rude or arrogant. They merely expose the fact, since people tend to be more reckless when behind a computer / smartphone screen, on their own. Also, just like the Internet can be used for both positive and negative things, so can SM, which are an application of this technology.

Social media is what you make it, and like @Randall Burns, I take interactions on social media with a grain of salt. Used as a tool and in moderation can be advantageous but to misuse can produce negative results for oneself and others. Bullying, etc. will not be my problem, it's their problem. Interesting and timely read @Debasish Majumder.
    Randall Burns

Interesting post @Debasish Majumder with some very interesting and valid points. I always take interactions on social media with "a grain of salt", to me it is slightly removed from reality in that we can never be 100% sure of the sincerity of the people we are interacting with. Some people may even act out differently on media than in "reality", and some people now may even feel that "social media" is more real than "reality".
As with anything there are the positive and negative aspects associated with anything, I like to think that i see and interact on the positive side with social media and if someone is acting out negatively, bullying, ignorant, etc. on social media, well that's their problem, I'm completely removed from it.

Thought provoking post, it's still generating responses in me.

#72 @Jean L. Serio CPC, CeMA- I stary my reply from where you ended your splendid comment. Studiies havvve shown that unhap]y and churned customers become the most loyal if they are won back. To reverse the thinking of those customers isn't easy but, as youvsuggested, if a company can do that then a hard battle is won. I fully concur with your comment.

I’d like to address your comments re customers who provide social reviews. Today many more are posting their reviews on social media, as your post suggests; their comments traveling at the speed of light over the Internet. Meaning a successful, profitable business can be brought to its knees, overnight, by a barrage of negative product/service comments or reviews. That said, these concerns can represent deep, serious company problems. Which a company can begin addressing with the help of these complaints. Plus, though time-consuming, I believe it’s necessary to actually have someone respond to these social reviews in order to let customers know the company understands the issues and their complaint isn’t falling on ‘deaf ears’. Bottom line, most unhappy customers can be turned into happy customers if you begin to show you are listening to them.

#68 Thank you dear @Lada 🏡 Prkic for your beautiful comment. You are right, and some of these social effects may be noticed on beBee. After all, it is a societal platform.
You do understand my intention of publishing this buzz. There are so many factors in play, and trying to understand fully what goes on is not an easy task. However; we may notice the emerging of few phenomena and you highlighted two of them.
I feel sometimes we are in a reaction pot. To predict the output with only two reactants in the pot can be straightforward. But, what if we have twenty nine reactants in the pot? I chose 29 because the graph as 29 social phenomena.
Can we predict? At least I can predict your good mind will help us understand more.

Dear Ali, I started reading your post by studying the title diagram. I have to commend your effort for making such a complex diagram. Some of the effects, such as the Ringelmann Effect, I found very applicable in explaining activities inside the large beBee groups.
All effects show that human social behaviour is such a complex and unpredictable variable.
It is particularly interesting to follow the flow of users on beBee. People come and go. Once ardent supporters of some people and very active users, suddenly vanished as if they've never been on the network. Some other suddenly have become strong supporters and, in a way, blind followers demonstrating the Ben Franklin "method" of social networking.
I would like to have time to identify the presence of these effects in the behaviour of my followers (including mine). It would be a very interesting project. :-)

#66 I am so glad you stopped here to write a great comment @Geoff Hudson-Searle. You raisee so many important issues. Social competency and the "third wheel" as new competitor to the social fabric.
I shall not be surprised to have new need by the name of smsrtphone competency.
I have noticed that some people are so busy with their smart phones to the extent that if they were on the same escalator with Bill Gates they shall not notice him.
Social distraction is an emeging phenomena. We used to say that there is no better substitute to face-to-face meetings. Now I wonder the validity of this. Disruption of the social structure is obvious.

@Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee thank you for mentioning this buzz, you may be aware that this is one of my push buttons and a subject that I am hugely passionate about. If you are emotionally attached to your smartphone and rely on it every waking minute, it will harm your relationships – I find most accidents happen with people texting when they walk, not to mention what happens when you are in their line of the street. The new education for humans is how to avoid being knocked over by the person texting on their smartphone. So how does social media affect interaction in our society? Will face-to-face communication ultimately diminish because of these new social technologies? These questions are ones that many researchers have found extremely intriguing since the advent and popularisation of social media in the last decade. Within this topic, social competency is an important ideal that most people strive towards, but there is evidence to support the claims that social media is actually harming people’s ability to interact competently in an offline setting.
Psychologists claim that increasing numbers of people in long-term partnerships are having to compete with their partner’s smartphone for attention, making it the ‘third wheel’ in their relationship. While technology has allowed us some means of social connection that would have never been possible before, and has allowed us to maintain long-distance friendships that would have otherwise probably fallen by the wayside, the fact remains that it is causing us to spread ourselves too thin, as well as slowly ruining the quality of social interaction that we all need as human beings.

#57 dear friend- I received your "dopamine hit". It hits with me on how you root all effects to the release of dopamine in ourbrains. Certainly a point to consider.
    Edward Lewellen
    10/11/2017 #57 Edward Lewellen
Dear friend, I can't help but think about the Dopamine Effect when reading this post. Each effect you describe is in response to receiving a "reward" of dopamine, or not. Each time someone 'Likes' a post, the author receives a "hit" of dopamine. The people exhibiting the Dunning-Kruger Effect receive a "hit" for feeling superior, the Ben Franklin Effect gives a "hit" in sending and receiving, etc. In the book "The Cyber Effect", it shows how people have become addicted to this reward drug that the brain produces. And, part of the addiction is like you describe when someone leaves a group or stops 'liking' someone's posts; it's because they are no longer receiving their 'hit'.

#49 @Harvey Lloyd- /ou bring an important issue that is a buzz on its own. "We often forget that training is not only for knowledge, but also emphasizes what is important". People have access to many resources of free and ppaid training material over the internet. So much information that the face-face training has to offer training on how to identify important material. The role of training has changed and repeating what is readily available is no more the objective of training.

#49 Again, this is an idea you have given me more than once and great methodology! Everyone should do this (tailored to your type of business):

#48 Wise advice @Harvey Lloyd, 'Stopping a judgement wave that is coupled with agitation and i he do of misunderstood products or services will always look like a cover up. There is but one way to stop the wave, make the customer the spokesperson in the judgement removal.' Food means a faster turnaround, so the problem (if there is one) is a least immediate!

This will sound cliche @Jane Anderson but this is an excellent article with a lot of great info contained within. Like so many women, BPO outsourcing is an interest I know many women share. I'd also love to see Hotels, Airlines, Amtrak and others offer remote customer service positions in areas that aren't within a large city. I spoke with a woman who works for Marriott rewards and reservations late one evening. She loves her job because she's a nigh owl. I asked where she was located and she told me Cleveland Ohio. I also asked if they hired outside of Cleveland and she said that at this time, no... only in cities where people have access to train on site. I'm sure there are many who'd be willing to spend the extra bucks to train on site so they can make it possible to work from home if they aren't living within a or near a large city. I would love to be doing remote work from home for a Corporation that offers an hourly pay along with benefits. A lot to look forward to according to your metrics on this buzz. Thanks for sharing!

"Less is a whisper in a world of shouting. Less can make you look less confident in a world where people need to see that you are anything but."

@Jim Murray, I grew up shouting all the time. It was the only way I had to make sure I wasn't overlooked. As an adult, though, I have learned that I don't have to shout so much, but I sure do have to be present in others' lives.

I totally agree that less isn't more in terms of being visible online. Maybe five or six years ago it worked, when there were far fewer writers on the different platforms. But now? Blogging exploded over the years, and there just SO. MANY. WRITERS. WITH. IDEAS. Who do we choose to "lisaten to"? To read?

My agenda? To teach. To help. To learn. To find a few clients whom I can help.

@Jim Murray - Great advice here! - I've been told over and over again that 'people buy people' - writing good content, making constructive (although opinionated) comments on other people's post all work - but I find that honesty (and it doesn't necessarily have to be the consensus view) and integrity are also paramount.

As do passion for your industry / niche or what every rocks your boat - seeking to inform - rather than push a quick sale as you say here :-

'Communicating that knowledge without any expectation of personal gain is, paradoxically, one of the most effective ways to attract people to you and your business.'

Since I've started blogging and writing articles (mainly on architecture) I find that the type of clients I attract are more in tune with me. I can't think that's a coincidence...

A BIG SPECIAL THANK YOU goes out to @Wayne Yoshida who pointed out that we were not supporting a bunch of people who prefer text-only email.

Not only that, he also volunteered to be the test subject for us to fix that. I spent half the day spamming the heck out of him until, I think, we got it right.

    Thanks, again, Wayne

Ahhh, Joycie, Joycie, Joycie. Let me assure you that there is no change needed on your part. I'll go over your questions in order.

What goes out in these emails? - Whatever you bloody well like. In your case, the best use might be to just link your beBee Articles Feed to an email distribution list. That way, whenever you write a new post, myTweetPack will eventually find it, store a tweet of it, promote it on Twitter AND email a link to anyone who subscribes to your "beBee Articles by Joyce Bowen" list.

Do we personally build those lists? - You can but it's better to let your readers build them for you. See lower down

Resistance is futile? - Hey, it's myTweetPACK not myTweetBORG. You don't NEED to use any of the 83+ functions.

Yes, I know all about you and change. So, here's what I did.

I went ahead and created that "beBee Articles by Joyce Bowen" campaign. Anyone who clicks on this link https://www.myTweetPack.com/members/emailSubscribe.php?id=13 will join it. They can unjoin anytime.

    I'm even your first subscriber.

Put that link in blog posts, on your email signature, in a text message, anywhere that can connect to the web. You can even use the link with some sort of graphic in Tweets. Heck, you can tattoo it on your heinie, but clicking it won't help.

FYI: someone asked if several feeds can feed a single list. Yes and no. You can't do it, but I can do it for you on the back-end.

@Paul "Pablo" Croubalian, you will never cease to amaze me. I love the new look by the way. MyTweetPack has become easier to navigate too.

I'm in my fantasy zone right now. If I were to market and thought of this 10 years ago, I would be taking photos of plating, new foods, wines/wineries and resort photos, then I would have an online publication that I could add the photos (showcase) and do a write up about the food/wines/resorts to help them market their products. So, there you go, you know my dream now. Why did I just share my dream? Because I would love to do testing for you based on a business I had but I don't so I have nothing to market except myself LOL.

I think the opt in is a great idea. I've ran into many, many, many issues with opting out too, so I understand completely what you are saying!

Anyone want to pay for my travel and cost of a hotel room in exchange for Photos and promotion of goods? ;-)

#7 #9 Sure @Paul "Pablo" Croubalian - I can be a guinea pig. . . and you know me - I am a newbie to all this stuff, so I probably can show how a bunch of ways to get confused . . .

"If you are having difficulty viewing this message, please click here to view it in a browser" - is quite common on messages I receive, so this could be a nice feature. PLUS, it may provide an easy/familiar way to share the item/post/buzz/share, by using the URL.

#4 Second reply: You gave me an idea, Wayne. That's what I like best about starting this myTweetPack thing for Lisa and Pam in the first place. Most of the ideas and functions came from user suggestions.

What if we include a "If you are having difficulty viewing this message, please click here to view it in a browser" type of thing? That should be easy enough to do (we already have the HTML from the email). Triggering the open counter would be a piece of cake compared to "tricking" an email program into thinking a PHP counter script is an image.

(Okay, so it isn't really "tricking" we DO return an image.)

We would just need to add a few lines to make a Multi-Part Mime message which is a fancy-pants way of saying we send plain text and HTML simultaneously and let your email program choose which to display. EZ PZ. I wouldn't include a full text-only option because there would be no way to track opens.

The other question would be how do we present it? I don't think a myTweetPack-branded view would be cool even though I wouldn't mind the exposure. Maybe a clean "letterhead" type of page?

    Thoughts?

I'll look at that tomorrow. I have to get my pizzas ready... it's Margarita Squared tonight... that's Margarita pizzas with Margarita cocktails.

#4 To be honest, I'm not sure, @Wayne Yoshida. Care to be a Guinea Pig? Join the Drip Campaign, it's the second link. The first email will go out almost immediately. Let me know and I'll check the back-end. Unscribe after if you want, but there are a lot of tips, tricks, and best practices in that campaign.

I'll be writing a User Manual for the email system once the users tell me what confuses them. I tried to put a lot of explanation right on the pages.

Thanks for the "open rates fallacy" @Paul "Pablo" Croubalian - what happens if the recipient (like me) sets e-mail preference for text-only and not HTML? Does it not count because of the non-delivered image?

#1 Thanks, @Pamela 🐝 Williams! That means a lot since you were one of the people that got me to start on this path (along with @Lisa 🐝 Gallagher) .

When you sign in with LinkedIn there is no access to your connections list. Signing in with Twitter, with us, is on a read-only basis and we don't bother loading anyone's follower or following list. (what would be the point?) Heck, we don't even store the access tokens Twitter sends us to read with.

I haven't started looking at Facebook yet, but I doubt they allow will-nilly access to friends. That would be irresponsible.

Using Twitter or LinkedIn (and, I assume Facebook) always brings you to a screen that describes what permission they want. EXAMPLE: the regular myTweetPack system Twitter authorization asks for read, write, and access direct messages permissions. It's right there on Twitter's authorization screen. The email list sign up only asks for read permissions and for access to your email.

Either way there's a link to terms of use and privacy policy.

If you see a sign-in with anything that wants write permissions, DON'T unless there's a logical reason for it! myTweetPack's regular authorization tweets for you, processes your follows/unfollows, updates LinkedIn, etc. IT NEEDS to be able to write to your account but has no access to your email. We used a different connection for joining email lists because we don't need to write for you there, but we do need your email.

It sounds like you were added to an opt-out list. Yes, that can be annoying.

OMG Paul the TweetPack has gone so far since I last checked in! Great work. Question: I always hesitate signing up with LI or Facebook because I fear them tapping into my contacts and bombarding them with the opt-out only email scenario and saying I invited them to join. I've gotten on some list like that but the supposed inviter said they never sent the invite. If this possible?
