Customer Service / Support
About Yolanda Dussek:
I am currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW that will be finished by April 2025. Through this degree, I have found a deep love of contemporary art that specifically focuses on ancient histories, female histories, perspectives, and mythologies. As well as this, I enjoy understanding and researching artists and their methodologies and materiality and how it all links. So, in my spare time, I usually research and read interesting essays that relate to all this which then informs my art practice. My practice is multidisciplinary involving painting, sculpture, and installation. I enjoy art making and have been hustling this year, which led to being a finalist for The Jenny Birt Painting Prize as well as being a part of a few exhibitions (all of which I have been a part of the organization and installation process). Overall, I'm an artist who enjoys making and researching art and being a part of the art community.
Experience
Professional experience: Art:
1. Ran, curated and organised several art exhibitions (solo and group shows including my art). This has given me direct insight into how the art world functions. I have thoroughly enjoyed these experiences and would like to do more! From the social media advertisements to the communication between artists, curators, and event management, to designing the layout of the artworks- it is all exciting, challenging and rewarding.
Professional Experience: Hospitality
I have worked in the hospitality industry for 8+ years, most notably, managing a busy cafe in Manly (Infinity Bakery). This involved a high level of skills in communicating with a diverse range of people and staff, customer service, organisation, and fast-paced problem-solving abilities.
Another notable place I worked at was Kwila Cafe which required a high level of knowledge and passion for its coffee production from Papua New Guinea and then relaying this information to a diverse range of customers.
Other skills obtained from the hospitality industry include the physical endurance required, being personable, and of service to customers.
