    Currently in my role, I am one of four mechanics looking after a fleet of 200+ trucks. Ranging from small 6 tonne skip trucks through to the larger hook trucks and both rear and front lift garbage trucks. My duties include general servicing and maintenance, engine and gearbox rebuilds, brake adjustment and replacement, corrective maintenance and certificates of roadworthy in accordance to RMS requirements. A large quantity of our work includes hydraulic and pneumatic applications varying from installation of new hydraulic rams and associated hoses to seal kits and pressure testing, as all of our trucks use these systems for operating around clients work sites. All work carried out adheres to strict safety protocol and any repair must be reported directly to the workshop and fleet managers.

    During my time as a field service mechanic for Seapower (Western Australia) I was delegated with tasks such as servicing and repairs of a vast array of marine installations, complete diesel overhauls, removal, disassembly, cleaning, servicing and rebuilding of Independent Propulsion Systems (IPS). Our clients vessels varied from sailing boats with small sail drives, to luxury cruisers and commercial fishing boats. All work undertaken was done with the utmost priority for safety and procedural adherence. Other duties included install and commissioning of brand new diesel and petrol engines, at home servicing, 24 hour on call repairs, general servicing and fault diagnosis and repair.

    In my role as a diesel mechanic, I worked at various sites across Australia including NSW, SA, QLD and NT. During my time in this role I performed preventative and corrective maintenance on many forms of machinery including excavators, telehandlers, underground boggers/loaders, haul trucks and cement trucks. maintenance also hydraulic repairs, electrical fault diagnosis and rectification, brake replacement on larger trucks and top end overhauls. I was also responsible for maintenance, repair and replacement and cleaning of auxiliary pumps and air compressors whilst maintaining a high regard for safety during all tasks. Due to the stringent time frames associated with productivity, system knowledge and time management was paramount in order to return the equipment to operational standard

  • Marine Technician

    To successfully perform my role as a Marine Technician I was required to successfully perform fault diagnosis, maintenance, replacement and cleaning of multiple systems including diesel propulsion, gas turbines, air compressors, hydraulic steering and stabilization and all relevant auxiliary pumps such as fuel, oil and water systems. Mechanical training was competency based to ensure full knowledge was achieved prior to undertaking the role alone. Entire system knowledge was required from start to finish when it came to fuel, oil, water and air systems to enable correct fault diagnosis and repair. During my service, safety was a high priority and regular training was undertaken including confined space training and rescue, first aid, fire fighting and escape procedures. Safety was always enforced during all aspects of my role especially due to the remote locations
