I am a qualified civil engineer with an MBA and Diploma in Project Management and over thirty year’s experience, managing construction projects from conception and scoping, to design, approvals, tender, construction and commissioning across manufacturing plant and transport infrastructure. Specialist expertise in construction materials and civil infrastructure projects, including rail, roads, highways, airfields and port pavements, construction and maintenance, asphalt, and pavement recycling. 

Additionally, I bring over twenty years of experience in general management, project management, operations management, business development, and sales to the table. Furthermore, I have valuable international experience, having worked for nine years in Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and other Asian countries.

GM SALES WA/NT, PROJECT MANAGER, BID MANAGER AUSTRALIA, WA

Boral Ltd is an Australian company that manufactures and supply’s building and construction materials across the nation for various industries from homebuilding to major infrastructure projects. As General Manager Sales WA/NT I led a sales team representing our concrete and quarries business units, including major projects.

Key Achievements
• Led a sales team managing over 500 concrete and quarry customers across in metro WA/NT and regional WA generating >$100m annual revenue.
• Boral’s Project Director for the Forrestfield AirportLink Project, the largest rail project undertaken by the WA State Government, our client was Salini NRW and this project generated over $40m revenue for Boral.
• Provided a single point of contact for clients bidding major projects, representing Boral’s asphalt, quarries, and concrete business units. Boral lead for integrated EOI and bid teams with major contractors such as Clough, Acciona, Lend Lease and CPB.
• Developed and implemented sales and bid strategies for WA/NT leading to successful award of projects with combined revenue >$100m, and nation leading price increases.
• Tendered and negotiated contracts from EOI to award and implementation.
 

COFFEY LTD (NOW TETRA TECH COFFEY)  July 2014 to April 2015
GENERAL MANAGER – TESTING WA AUSTRALIA, WA

Coffey was an Australian company that provided consulting services in the geosciences, international development, and project management. As General Manager Testing WA I was responsible for providing engineering testing and validation services including providing clients with information on the properties of the construction materials used for major projects.

Key Achievements
• Increased profit in challenging market conditions with a ~$1 million service line profit improvement when compared to the prior financial year.
• Revenues increased by over 30% on prior financial year, with new clients accounting for over half the increase. A successful variation also contributed to improved revenues.
• Zero LTI’s and LTI free for over a year. Won the gold safety award with the Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) for three consecutive years.
• Improved cash collection, with debtor days reduced from 90 to 60 days.
• Staff deployed to remote major projects including Barrow Island for the Gorgon Project, Wheatstone and Roy Hill, with clients including Leighton, Thiess, NRW, Laing O’Rourke, Monodelhpous and many others.


GOLDER ASSOCIATES PTY LTD (NOW WSP) April 2012 to June 2014
PRINCIPAL PROJECT MANAGER AUSTRALIA, WA

Golder was a 100% employee-owned, global company providing consulting, design and construction services in the specialist areas of earth, the environment, and the related areas of energy. As a Principal Project Manager my role was for the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of construction projects for Golder clients, managing all elements of project delivery, including scope, cost, quality, time, risk, human resources, communications, procurement, and integration.

Key Achievements
• Site manager for the design and construction of a ~$3m tailings dam raise for an iron ore mine in South Australia. 
• Construction manager for the design and construction of a ~$15m 350ML water storage pond for an oil and gas client in Queensland. The scope included setting up a 30-person site camp and facilities in a remote location, clearing and grubbing, over 180,000m3 of bulk earthworks, 65,000m2 of geosynthetic (HDPE) liner. The project was delivered safely with zero LTI’s, on time and within budget.
• Tender manager for a ~$30m tender to construct two water storage ponds in Queensland for an oil and gas client.
• Site manager for the design and construction of a ~$12m 5km sealed mine haul road in a remote site in the Pilbara in Western Australia. 
 

BORAL - CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS (BCM) Oct 2005 to April 2012
SENIOR PM, BUSINESS SUPPORT MANAGER AUSTRALIA, WA

As Senior Project Manager and Business Support Manager for BCM in Western Australia I provided project management and support for the concrete, asphalt, quarries, and transport business units.

Key Achievements
• Project Manager for various capital projects, including a new technical facility, asphalt plant, concrete plants, and a quarry upgrade. My involvement in these projects was from concept to completion, starting with developing the business case and budget, gaining necessary approvals, through to managing the design and construction work.
• Negotiated a ~10m contract for the sale and hire back of dump trucks for the contracting business.
• Provided support and input to a major contract claim settlement valued at ~$6m.
• Project managed early exit from contracting business in line with Boral’s strategic plan, and sold surplus assets valued at ~$10m, realising a book profit of $0.5m.
• Managed complex tender and EOI submissions, varying in value from $10m to $180m.
• Successfully implemented an asset management programme across a diverse asset management team with a $10m annual maintenance budget.
• Implemented and managed a business improvement programme resulting in net benefits >$1.5m in one year.
