For the past three academic years, I have had the privilege of working in Riverstown N.S. as a Special Education Teacher. Teaching in this inclusive, child-centred school has further enhanced my passion for providing children with stimulating and meaningful learning experiences. I have gained invaluable experience that I will most certainly use to inform and to benefit my future teaching. I greatly appreciated teaching in a school in which working in collaboration with others is to the fore and I thoroughly enjoyed developing positive relationships with the staff and students of Riverstown N.S. I have been working as a Special Education Teacher at many different class levels and it has been a wonderful opportunity for me to deepen my understanding of SEN and to develop a greater sense of confidence and awareness of how to engage with and teach children with SEN. I have worked with children who have special educational needs ranging from ASD to Dyspraxia. I worked in collaboration with children, parents, relevant members of staff and external professionals to create support plans for each child. I have experience in the administration of assessments such as the Drumcondra Tests of Early Literacy and the Drumcondra Tests of Early Numeracy and The Single Word Test.
