THE TEAM YOU WILL WORK IN
The Office of the Conservator of Flora and Fauna (OCFF) is a small team within the EPSDD Environment, Heritage, and Water (EHW) Group. The main functions of the team are to develop advice for the Conservator on matters that may impact biodiversity and the conservation estate in the ACT, prepare advice on environmental assessments and development applications to the ACT Planning Authority; and assist in the administration of the Conservator's functions under legislation.
The unit works with many stakeholders both within and external to Government.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic person to lead and partner with the community to protect, conserve, and enhance the biodiversity of the ACT, the foundation of Canberra's liveability. You will preferably have tertiary qualifications and experience in environmental and/or natural resource management.
You will lead the Office of the Conservator of Flora and Fauna (OCFF) - a small team of passionate experts who will assist you in providing support to the Conservator and the broader Environment, Heritage, and Water Group.
You will support the Conservator by undertaking robust review, research, and analysis, providing clear, concise and responsible advice, and liaising with the community and relevant stakeholders to develop pragmatic management approaches.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately to 31 December 2024 with the possibility of extension up to less than 12 months. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. This position is located in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
