Permanent, open to full time and part time (4 days)Sydney or Melbourne location Agile/flexible working arrangements available How will I help?We have an exciting new role as a Lawyer,reporting to the Head of Customer Management Legal, you'll provide expert legal and strategic advice in managing and resolving disputes, both litigated and non-litigated.
The role will directly report to Sydney; however, we are open for applicants to apply from Melbourne.
What will you do?Work autonomously to advise on, negotiate and resolve a broad range of disputes and legal issue in ways that are practical, commercially focused, and consistent with the Westpac Group's objectives, risk tolerances and governance framework, and in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards.
Work with a variety of stakeholders to manage legal and commercial issues in accordance with Westpac's values and community expectations and in a way that promotes the interests and strategic objectives of the Westpac Group.
Actively engage in the management of outsourced litigation to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of outcomes.
Identify and monitor existing and emerging legal risks emerging from disputes and litigation.
Taking steps to prevent the occurrence of risk incidents and where an incident does occur, ensuring it is managed, escalated, and resolved appropriately.

What do I need?You will have proven experience as a litigation lawyer, ideally covering the broad range of dispute resolution activities in the financial services sector.
You will have at least 5 years' PQE and have a strong understanding or specialisation in banking and finance disputes.
Knowledge of AFCA processes and disputes and knowledge of responsible lending obligations, familiarity with mortgages and the consumer lending process is highly desirable.
