    This role centers around conducting mechanical repairs, including routine maintenance tasks, on both mobile and stationary equipment. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is crucial for ensuring site safety, quality control, environmental compliance, and risk management.

    Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic will be responsible for handling mechanical (and occasional electrical) tasks on equipment in workshop and field settings to keep our fleet safe and operational for project needs. The position may involve travel within the Newcastle and Sydney regions, as well as other areas in regional NSW, to perform scheduled maintenance, essential repairs, and mechanical support for major construction projects. This is primarily a Monday to Friday role from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with potential for overtime, shifts, and occasional weekend work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities for this role:

    • Perform all services, maintenance, and repairs on vehicles, equipment, as directed by the supervisor.
    • Report consumable usage to maintain spare parts inventory.
    • Document work activities and equipment information accurately and promptly.
    • Ensure equipment is safe and report faults as needed.
    • Diagnose equipment faults efficiently.
    • Use technical manuals effectively.
    • Maintain stock of spare parts in field vehicles, if applicable.
    • Support team members and provide on-the-job training.
    • Report any misuse of company property.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure required documentation is completed before work starts.
    • Engage with stakeholders to manage risks effectively.
    • Identify and implement safety and quality improvements.
    • Follow company policies and procedures diligently.
    • Comply with Rail Safety & WHS standards.

    To excel in this role, you should possess:

    • Relevant Trade Certificate
    • Valid C-class driver's license
